Consultancy Research and Testing Services (CRTS), Civil is a leading Civil Engineering based material testing, certification and consulting centre which is a wing of Department of Civil Engineering in Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh. Our strength includes well furnished laboratories, highly qualified faculty members and their experience in research and innovation. With the university setup of testing facility, it offers wide ranges of quality control testing services, unrivalled capacities, short lead times and detailed technical expertise. As a customer you can take the advantages of a unique set of all inclusive services.

More than thirty highly qualified experts and diversely experienced consultants of various fields of Civil Engineering has been satisfying the demand of the nation by solving various engineering problems and maintaining quality services of international standard. In short, we design, calibrate, verify, calculate, check, monitor, test and provide consultancy for specific requirements.

In order to achieve excellence in the field of engineering and technology for the benefit of the country the Consultancy, Research and Testing Services (CRTS) of the university undertake research, testing and consultation works as entrusted to them by the Government, Semi-government, Autonomous bodies and Private parties. Some of the specific objectives are:

  • To stimulate engineering research in the university.
  • To put the equipment of the university for optimum utilization.
  • To develop close relations with other universities/ institutions and industries.
  • To render expertise knowledge for solving local and national problems.
  • To broaden and update professional capabilities of teachers and staff members through solving practical problems.
  • To provide expert services to the Government and other organizations in the field of engineering and technology.
  • To allow the teachers to participate in the academic program of other universities/institutions.
  • To provide KUET laboratory facilities to other universities/institutions for taking practical classes of their students, if necessary.
  • To provide financial support for post-graduate studies and research.
  • To sponsor research programs on matters of consequences to the country.
  • To conduct training programs and short courses.

Services

Material Testing:

For ensuring the quality of Civil Engineering works, all types of destructive and non-destructive test of engineering materials as well as environmental quality tests have been performed efficiently following the recognized national and international standards. List of test: download pdf

Beside these, following works are frequently carried out:

  • Pile Integrity Test (PIT), Pile and plate load tests have been conducted frequently (more than 50 sites per year).

  • Sub-soil investigations have been conducted frequently (more than 100 sites per year). Concrete mix design, Pavement design and Tubewell design are also conducted frequently.

Consultancy works:

In recent years, the consultant team of CRTS (Civil) has been involved in the following major works:

  • Monitoring the performance of capital dredging and assessment of effectiveness of dredging in the pussur river from Mongla Port to Rampal Power Plant, Bagerhat– Mongla Port Authority, Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh.
  • Monitoring the Performance of Dredging and Assessment of Effectiveness of “Dredging at the Food Silo Area in Harbour Channel of Mongla Port”, Bagerhat– Mongla Port Authority, Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh.
  • Feasibility study for dredging and river training in Pussur channel of Mongla Port, Bagerhat– Mongla Port Authority, Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh.
  • Monitoring and Third Party supervision of the project entitled “Improvement of Drainage System for Reducing Water Logging Problem in Khulna City Corporation”, Ministry of LGRD, Bangladesh.
  • Monitoring and Third Party supervision of the project entitled “Development and Rehabilitation of Important and Damaged Roads in Khulna City Corporation”, Ministry of LGRD, Bangladesh
